Lost, Texas: Photographs of Forgotten Buildings

January 5, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

For Bronson Dorsey, Lost, Texas represents the forgotten architectural “reminders of the state’s history, its economic booms and busts, and the hopes and dreams of the people who settled this land.”  Join us as he tells the story behind his quest to locate and document structures that fit his description before they disappear forever.  Through his skillful photographs, he will illustrate the important factors in the development of six nineteenth-century Texas towns and what led to their decline.  After the program, Dorsey will sign copies of his book, Lost, Texas: Photographs of Forgotten Buildings.  Admission Free!

Dorsey is a fourth-generation Texan, whose family settled in East Texas in the mid-1800s. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from UT Austin in 1974. After retiring from an international career in architecture and construction management in 2009, he embarked on a second career as an architectural photographer. After its beginning as a blog of abandoned buildings, (www.lost-texas.com) Lost, Texas, was published by Texas A&M Press in May, 2018.
